Ann Arbor Public Schools Health Science Technology
"Careers by Choice, not by Chance"
2019-2020: Celebrating 40 years of partnerships with our local medical centers and community health providers.
The Health Sciences Program is in its 40th year in the Ann Arbor Public Schools. Huron and Pioneer High Schools each select 48 students to participate in the course. It is open to students in the Ann Arbor Public School district who are interested in pursuing careers in the health care fields. Academically, students are challenged by the strong science content, which prepares them to advance to college courses prerequisite for health careers. Students are awarded one elective science credit upon course completion.
Students apply for Health Sciences during their junior year when going through the course selection process. The application due date will be provided to students during their course selection assembly.
Factors considered for applicant selection include; attendance record, academic and volunteer experience reflecting interest in the health field, counselor and/or teacher recommendation. First priority is given to students who will be 12th graders while taking the course.
